BOP COVID-19 UPDATE, FEBRUARY 1, 2021


Currently positive-testing inmates: 2,804 (down from 3,117)

Currently positive-testing staff: 1,802 (up from 1,782)

Recovered inmates: 43,209 (up from 42,671)

Recovered staff: 4,325 (up from 4,321)

Institutions with the largest number of currently positive-testing inmates:

Pollock FCI: FMC: 304 (up from 258)

Tallahassee FCI: 208 (down from 212)

Carswell FMC: 173 (down from 226)

Institutions with the largest number of currently positive-testing staff:

Pollock USP: 79 (unchanged)

Tucson USP: 69 (unchanged)

Oklahoma City FTC: 59 (unchanged)


System-wide testing results: Presently, BOP has 123,232 federal inmates in BOP-managed institutions and 13,802 in community-based facilities. Today's stats:

Completed tests: 101,493 (up from 101,224) Positive tests: 45,161 (up from 44,947) Prison Vaccines: The BOP COVID-19 Update website is now publishing vaccination statistics. Thus far, 31,149 doses have been administered. In several institutions, as many or more inmates as staff have received vaccinations, although, of course, each institution has many more inmates than staff. Other institutions, however, have used their allotments almost entirely to vaccinate staff, including:

Death Watch: The BOP had acknowledged two additional inmate fatalities, whose names have not yet been released, raising the inmate death toll to 212. Four inmates died while on home confinement. BOP staff fatalities remain at 3.
