Terrific Compassionate Release Research Tool: Our friend and colleague Michael Bachrach was kind enough to share a spreadsheet he created of compassionate release grants to lifers and defendants convicted of murder and terrorism. Michael explains:

The first page of the spreadsheet lists all life-sentenced defendants that I have been able to uncover who thereafter won a motion for a reduction of sentence or compassionate release, as well as all murder and terrorism defendants to later won a reduction of sentence or compassionate release regardless whether or not they were originally sentenced to life.

The "murder-case" defendants are all highlighted in yellow. Note that I am including defendants convicted of murder as well as defendants convicted of other crimes where murder was nonetheless a sentencing factor.

The second page is a list of just the "murder-case" defendants.

The third page is just the terrorism defendants.

Thank you, Michael!
